Lucas Wood

Executive Director

Lucas Wood, executive director of the Galesburg Symphony Society & Knox-Galesburg Symphony, is a Galesburg-area native with a background in opera performance and business development and management. In his seven years as executive director, Lucas has guided the Symphony through some of the most significant and challenging tasks an orchestra can undergo; since 2015 the Symphony has improved the artistic quality of the ensemble, saw the retirement of a 35-year veteran conductor, led an international music director search, successfully weathered the global COVID-19 pandemic, and developed the role of and appointed the first-ever Artistic Partner for the organization. As an overture to the next movement in the Symphony's story, Lucas and a visionary team of thinkers and supporters are reimagining the way the organization lives its mission by redeveloping the original Farm Bureau Building in downtown Galesburg into "Symphony Center," a space that will be home to vibrant classical music education programs for the entire community.
